Latest data from the China Machinery Industry Federation shows that in the first seven months of this year, China’s machinery industry cumulative exports reached USD 664.3 billion, rising 20.8% year on year, 2.3 percentage points higher than the overall national foreign trade growth rate. Machinery products accounted for 26.3% of China’s total goods exports. Machinery industry exports have outperformed overall national foreign trade growth for 47 consecutive months, acting as a solid “ballast stone” for foreign trade.
Experts point to three core drivers behind the strong export figures. First, rigid equipment demand keeps being unlocked amid global green transformation of infrastructure. Second, long term domestic technological accumulation pays off, and performance of Chinese high end equipment matches that of world leading brands. Third, enterprises have gradually built global R&D, manufacturing and service networks, greatly enhancing localized service capabilities.
Machinery industry exports now show three new features. Market layout is diversified, with products serving more than 230 countries and regions worldwide. Pillar industries advance side by side: five major sectors (electrical equipment, automobiles, petrochemical general purpose machinery, construction machinery and basic mechanical parts) together contribute over 70% of total machinery exports, and all 14 sub sectors record positive year on year export growth. Product mix upgrades rapidly toward high end segments. Export value of complete vehicles rose 56.5%, while both export volume and value of battery electric passenger cars increased by more than 70%.
Ye Dingda, Vice President of the China Machinery Industry Federation, commented that export highlights lie not merely in volume growth but in qualitative transformation of the whole industry. Leveraging core competitiveness fostered by new quality productive forces, China is reshaping the global division of labor landscape for the equipment industry.
